Foot Massage
Thai Foot Massage:

Thai
Foot Massage is massage of the hands, legs and feet that originated in
Thailand about 2,000 years ago. It is part of traditional Thai massage
and has elements of Shiatsu, Reflexology, Chinese massage and Yoga incorporated
in the massage itself. Its mechanics has a strong Indian Ayruvedic influence
and yoga influence. The theory of Thai foot massage assumes the existence
of ten major energy lines in the body, which end in pressure points around
the entire body. By manipulating these different points the body and mind
are stimulated to restore the balance in that particular zone, and thereby
throughout the body.
Thai foot massage can help with the following conditions:
- Relieve stress and tension.
- Improve circulation in legs, feet and hands.
- Reduce the possibility of developing arthritic and rheumatic conditions
in the feet.
- Stimulate lymphatic drainage.
- Improve flexibility.
- Insomnia.
- Mental Fatigue.
- Anxiety.

Hot
Stone Massage is a speciality massage, which involves the use of smooth,
heated stones within the context of therapeutic massage. These stones
are basalt, a black volcanic rock, which absorbs and retains heat well. The
use of applied heat to alter the temperature of the body for healing is
a technique of long-standing benefit. The roots of this healing therapy
can be sourced back to many ancient cultures including the Native Americans.
Though the history of using heated stones as an adjunct to body work reaches
back centuries, this type of therapy has recently become popular again
and was re-introduced 1993 by Mary Hannigan from Tuscon Arizona.
Before you arrive the therapist cleanses the stones and
heats them up in water between 120 and 150 degrees. Traditional Swedish
massage techniques are used with the stones as an extension of the therapist’s
hands – without using the more vigorous chopping, cupping and hacking
movements.
The round, smooth stones are heated to a luxurious warmth, oiled and used
in the palms of the hands to massage the body. Heat penetrates deeply,
prompting profound relaxation, increased detoxification, and relief of
long-standing muscular tension, stress and fatigue from areas such as
shoulders, back, arms, hands, legs and feet.
Hot and cold stones are beneficial for muscle therapy.
The heat brings increased circulation and more oxygen and untie the tight
muscle knots – it causes the muscles to relax, stretch more easily and
the nervous system to relax. Cool stones cause lymph fluid to move in
the muscles and also reduce swelling, and help with headaches and migraines.Physically
the circulation and metabolism are stimulated; mentally and spiritually
the individual reaches a state of deep relaxation, which allows the body
to rebalance and begin to heal itself.
